One of the very best tuner designs of all time is the Scott LT-10 or in non Kit form 310
Sensitive and very Selective with very good audio these tuners set the bar for all the others to try for.
It took several years for the competition to catch up and many had better features but few ever achieved the actual front end performance these tuners are famous for.

I've never had to do anything to it.
There's no AFC - they don't need it.
